Learning dispositions developed through joyful exploration of visual art:​
 

 

Children develop awareness of shades and tones of colours, get skilled at mixing colours, develop observational skills and awareness of placement in space, two and three dimensional awareness.

 

Children develop scientific understandings thorugh mixing colours and materials, exploring the properties of materials and through processes of trial and error.

 

Children become competent communicators using a range of media to express ideas and emotions, research new understandings and communicate what the world looks like to them.

 

Children develop early mathematical concepts when sorting, lining up, exploring patterns and sizes, becoming aware of volume and size of items and through adding and subtracting volume when exploring clay.

 

Children become resilient, learn to persist with difficulty and gain understanding of the pleasure of achieving goals.

 

Children develop an understanding that new and unfamiliar experiences can delight, challenge and bring diversity into their life.

 

Children get comfortable with the understanding that there is no 'right or wrong' way to express yourself through art- that every one has their individual way and we celebrate our diversity.

 

Children learn that there are many ways to express emotions.

 

Children develop fine motor skills and early understanding of concepts of literacy (making marks and creating symbols to tell stories).

 

EYLF LO4: Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating. Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another. Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials.
